WHEW Cruise to Nassau, Bahamas

WHEW Family,
Our Family unanimously voted that the 2011 Family Reunion will be a cruise!
That’s right! . . . you read it correctly - - the WHEW Family 2011 Reunion will be a cruise to the lovely island of Nassau, Bahamas.
Here are the dates of the 2011 WHEW Family Reunion Cruise:
Thursday, June 23 thru Sunday, June 26, 2011
Carnival Cruise Line
Ship:  Sensation
Port of Departure:  Port Canaveral  Orlando, FL
Sail time:  4:00 PM

This is a brave “New Horizon” for our family and it will mean that all family members will need to stay connected and informed regarding details on the cruise.  There are many details that the family must be aware of and it will require each member to read and review information carefully . . . if you don’t understand something, now is the time to ask questions.

The reunion committee will work hard to make sure family members are kept abreast of information concerning the cruise.  To ensure that the planning process will go smoothly we will be utilizing the Services of MoonLight Cruises & Vacations travel agency.   The agency is located in Conyers, GA (outside of Atlanta).

We will need each family member  to make their initial   deposits by August 10th so we can lock in the staterooms.   We are starting early so family will have plenty of time to pay off their cruise before the deadlines.
Final payment must be made by April 10th, 2011.

THESE  ITEMS ARE VERY IMPORTANT!!!
1.  Each family member will be responsible for making their initial deposit and final payments for their passage fare with the cruise line.   Payments will be made directly to MoonLight Cruises - - We encourage each family member to pay monthly - - this is the easiest way to ensure you are not left struggling to pay a big balance at the end.   The agency has the ability to process on-line payments as well those sent via mail.

The initial deposit fee is $50 per person for a double cabin; for a triple, quad or quint the feeis $100 per person (the fee is higher due to limited availability onboard the ship. Details on the
cruise cost will be available to you within a few days

2.  Family members will also be responsible for making sure they have the proper proof of US Citizenship.   The easiest  proof of citizenship is a passport.  It will make the boarding and travel process run smoothly.  For information on how to obtain a passport visit
www.travel.state.gov  or contact Carnival Cruise line Passport services at www.passportservices.com/carnival
NOTE:  This cruise is considered a “closed loop” cruise therefore a passport is not required; however official proof of US Citizenship is required.  A “closed loop” cruise is one that both begins and ends in the same US port.  You must also have proof of citizenship for all children traveling with you on the cruise.   Please read the following information carefully.

U.S. Citizens
Carnival highly recommends all guests travel with a passport (valid for at least six months beyond completion of travel).  Although a passport is not required for U.S. citizens taking cruises that begin & end in the same U.S. port, travelling with a passport enhances your disembarkation experience, as delays may be expected upon your return to the U.S. if you do not have one.  Additionally, passports make it easier for you to fly from the U.S. to a foreign port should you miss your scheduled port of embarkation, or need to fly back to the U.S. for emergency reasons.
The Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) allows U.S. citizens (including children) sailing on cruises that begin and end in the same U.S. port to travel with one of the following WHTI compliant document:
Valid U.S. Passport
Certified  copy of a Birth Certificate with a raised seal is best
Certificate of Naturalization
Passport Card
Enhanced Driver's License (EDL)
Trusted Traveler Program Membership Card,  e.g., Nexus Card, Sentri Card or Fast Card
A government-issued photo ID is also required for all guests, including children 16 and over.  For more information, a complete list of WHTI-compliant documents or to obtain a passport application, visit
www.travel.state.gov.
Note:  make sure the name on your travel documents match the name on your cruise tickets, etc.   Cruise tickets will be provided after full payment of the stateroom and close to sail date.
